the marathon will pass by the Palace of Versailles, departure and arrival in Paris

The Paris Olympic Games marathon in 2024 will pass in front of the Palace of Versailles, between a start and an arrival in the capital, and will offer a particularly demanding course, the organizers revealed on Wednesday October 5. After leaving from the Hôtel de Ville and several kilometers along the banks of the Seine, the route will cross the department of Hauts-de-Seine (Boulogne-Billancourt, Sèvres, Ville-d’Avray) to the Palace of Versailles ( Yvelines). The runners will then pass through the Hauts-de-Seine (Viroflay, Chaville, Meudon, Issy-les-Moulineaux) to find the Seine and Paris to the Esplanade des Invalides, arrival of the 42.195 km. The route is particularly demanding with several hills for an elevation gain of 438 m, greater than on most major current marathons. The course, completely different from the Paris marathon contested each year, will be used three times, for the men’s race, the women’s event, and for the “marathon for all”, contested during the Games and open to just over 20 000 amateur runners.
