The Badminton Albatros, present in another national championship

CD Badminton Albatros took flight last weekend to the Juan Antonio Cuadrillero Municipal Pavilion, in Guadarrama -Madrid-, to play a TOP TTR Tournament, scoring for the national Badminton ranking. Until there, the club displaced two of its members: Daniela Rodriguez -the youngest with a federative license within Albatros- in the Sub11 category, which is still being filmed at the Club’s Schools, and William Martinez in the Absolute category, which resumed the competition after a short break due to work reasons.

By regulation, during this 2022 season, the TOP TTR Tournaments have the handicap that only qualifies for the final table of podium positions the first classified of each of the groups; so getting to be with the best becomes a complicated task because you cannot fail in any match of the group stage. The two participating Albatrosses could not pass the group stage in the individual modality, although their participation can be considered acceptable.

In the Sub11 Women’s Individual modality, Daniela Rodríguez, In her first federated tournament, she was able to win one of her two group matches, to classify in the tournament as fifth out of a total of twelve players, which has raised her to 71st place in the national ranking.

In the Men’s Absolute Individual modality, Guillermo Martínez, Due to a long inactivity in tournament play, he qualified third in the group, far from his best level, although taking one of his matches to three sets. In this category there were a total of 48 participants.

In Women’s Doubles U11, Daniela Rodríguez, teaming up with Vega López from Madrid, from the Leganés Badminton Club, she has classified in fourth position; while in Mixed Doubles together with David García, also from Madrid, from Badminton Alcalá, he finished in fifth position out of a total of eight couples.

Guillermo Martínez competed in Absolute Men’s Doublesteaming up with Dennis Schoemakers, from the San Babilés Badminton Club in the Madrid town of Boadilla del Monte, classifying first in the group and moving on to the final draw, to finish in a meritorious fifth place out of a total of eighteen couples, in a tournament they won the brothers Abián, Pablo and Javier, the first of them an Olympian defending Spain, so we can get an idea of ​​the quality of the participating players.

The next stop for the Albatros Badminton Sports Club will be next Saturday, October 22, in the town of El Campello -Alicante-, where four members of the club will travel.
