TGIPF Highlights No Tear Gas Shooting Scene at the Tribune, This is what the Police said

Jakarta

The Joint Independent Fact-Finding Team (TGIPF) highlighted that there were no scenes of tear gas shooting into the stands during the reconstruction of the Kanjuruhan tragedy. The police responded briefly in this regard.

“I have conveyed it in Surabaya,” said Head of the Public Relations Division, Inspector General Dedi Prasetyo, when contacted on Friday (21/10/2022).

Meanwhile, in the official release of the Divhumas Polri Headquarters, Dedi said the core of the reconstruction was to recreate the scene where the fans entered the field. This led to a riot and tear gas was fired. The number of scenes in this reconstruction is 30 scenes.

However, said Dedi, in the reconstruction process, the shooting of tear gas was only done symbolically for the needs of the reconstruction process.

“Furthermore, there were supporters who entered the field and there was a riot that resulted in the shooting of tear gas by members of the Samapta Polres Malang, members of Brimob Kompi Porong and members of Brimob Kompi Madiun inside the stadium area,” said Dedi in a written statement, Thursday (20/10). ).

Dedi added that in the reconstruction process, the police presented 54 people who played a role in accordance with the legal construction of the Kanjuruhan tragedy. Starting from supporters to members of the police.

“It consists of suspect 3, Supporter 10, Steward 1, Keeper 1, Padal 10, Member of Brimob Porong 10, Member of Brimob Madiun 17, Member of Samapta Polres Malang 2,” he said.

TGIPF Requests Tear Gas Shots to the Tribune to be Investigated

The reconstruction of the Kanjuruhan tragedy carried out by the police did not include tear gas shooting scenes at the stands. TGIPF Kanjuruhan requested that the entire series of reconstructions be carried out transparently in accordance with the recommendations.

“TGIPF asks that all (reconstruction) be carried out openly and transparently, that’s a clear recommendation,” said TGIPF member Akmal Marhali when contacted, Thursday (20/10).

Akmal considered it a big mistake if there was no shooting towards the stands after the Arema FC vs Persebaya match. Because, according to him, the facts on the ground were that police personnel fired tear gas into the stands.

“For example, if it is suspected that there was no shooting (tear gas) at the stands, it is a big mistake. The facts on the ground are that many people (shoot) at the stands,” said Akmal.

“If the shooting is generally all police, yes, it is clear, for sure. The videos that are spread on social media are clear,” said Akmal.
