Stephen Curry is one of the top 10 all-timers for Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce disagrees

Kevin Garnett et Paul Pierce were reunited this week on the show “All the Smoke”. There were obviously some heated discussions, including one regarding Stephen Curry. The two former friends from Boston (and Brooklyn, gulps …) do not have the same opinion on the place of the MVP of the 2022 Finals in the history of the NBA.

KG considers Curry to be in the top 10 all-time already, where Pierce is more skeptical and not ready to go that far. Here is an excerpt from their discussion.

Kevin Garnett : “Of course yes, I put him in the 10 all-time. He changed the game in the sense that we no longer shoot from the same distance. What he does, he does it with consistency. All the backs who are 1.80m take themselves for Stephen Curry today.

Paul Pierce: “I respect the players of the older generations too much. An all-time top 10? No. Everyone has their opinion. For me, you have to respect the Bill Russells, Wilt Chamberlains…”

Kevin Garnett : “But I also have them in my top 10! He changed the game. The moment you have to defend on this guy is as soon as he passes the half of the field! This guy makes you go to bed early if you want to defend on him. We were lucky to live the era of MJ, that of Kobe, even that of Shaq, who changed the game by exploding baskets. There it is the same. Stephen Curry did believing all the backs that they were capable of shooting from long range”.

To see if a new Warriors title and, possibly, a second Finals MVP title for Curry would change Paul Pierce’s mind…
