Chemnitz – Basketball Bundesliga club Niners Chemnitz has to postpone the start of the new Bundesliga season due to several corona infections in the team.

The home game against the MLP Academics Heidelberg scheduled for Tuesday will be postponed, as the club and the BBL announced. After several Chemnitz players and coaches complained of cold symptoms and some rapid corona tests were positive on Saturday, PCR tests were carried out on the entire team. These brought positive laboratory results for all people, as the club announced on Sunday.

All affected players and coaches went into domestic isolation. So no players are available. The club therefore applied for the game to be canceled in accordance with the rules of the game. The league approved the request. According to the current status, Chemnitz will play their first Bundesliga game on October 9th at 6 p.m. at Bayern Munich. The BBL stated that no statement could be made about the other games played by Chemnitz.
