Indonesian men’s singles Shesar Hiren Rhustavito said he was grateful to be able to pass the first match of the French Open 2022. Focus is the key to his success this time.

Shesar Hiren Rhustavito met Lee Zii Jia in the last 32 of the BWF Super 750 tournament which took place at Stade Pierre de Coubertin, Wednesday (26/10/2022). He won two straight games 21-19, 21-18 within 44 minutes.

This victory also ensures that Shesar Hiren Rhustavito is ahead in the head to head over the 2021 All England champions to become 5-4.

Vito, his nickname, was happy to qualify for the next round, although at the beginning of the match he did not think about the result.

“First of all, I am grateful that I was able to win in today’s early match. In this match, I played nothing to lose by trying not to think about the results. I focused point by point,” said Shesar in his written statement.

“From the first to the second game, the match was very tight. The opponent also played very well today. I did my best to defend well considering the opponent has a deadly attack.”

“The key to victory in this match when points are very tight, it takes focus and discipline on the field,” he said.

Shesar has been waiting for Kodai Naraoka from Japan in the round of 16. He is confident that he will pass the next challenge because the preparations made so far have been good.

“Facing the round of 16, preparations have been pretty good so far. I’m trying to play better going forward than today,” said Shesar.
