Second division: Bielefeld, who were relegated to the first division, remains last

Darmstadt 98 moved up to the top of the table in the 2nd Bundesliga on Saturday. The Lilien won 2-1 (0-1) at Karlsruher SC with a late goal by Phillip Tietz and passed Hamburger SV, who lost the derby at FC St. Pauli 0-3 on Friday.

Arminia Bielefeld, who were relegated to the first division, remains last after a 0: 2 (0: 1) at Hannover 96. 1. FC Nuremberg achieved their first win under new coach Markus Weinzierl with a 1-0 (0-0) win at Fortuna Düsseldorf, while Eintracht Braunschweig is 2-0 (0-0) at 1. FC Magdeburg in six games undefeated.

Darmstadt’s series lasted five games longer. Fabian Schleusener’s (19th) header goal for KSC was countered by Patric Pfeiffer (49th) with the equalizer, Tietz (88th) made the victory perfect. Darmstadt only lost on the first match day in Regensburg.

The guests started sovereign and self-confident, but after the opening goal, Karlsruhe came up trumps with a no-frills offensive game. The 1-0 had solved the tension, Darmstadt had to make great efforts to regain control of the game.
