Upon arrival, Veitía thanked the island’s authorities for their support.

The prominent judo teacher, Ronaldo Veitía, returned to Cuba on Monday from Spain, where he remained hospitalized due to health problems.

At his own request, he is already in Havana, where he was received at the José Martí International Airport by Dr. Pablo Castillo Díaz, director of the Institute of Sports Medicine, who welcomed him on behalf of the Cuban sports movement and people.

Veitía fell ill during a family visit to Spain and was treated there. Based on the health situation presented, the Inder collaborated with his return to the country and will guarantee his medical care together with the Ministry of Health.

Ihosvany Veitía, son of the emblematic coach, accompanied him from Alicante to Havana and in statements to the Cuban press said that his father has a smile of happiness since he learned of the return to the homeland.

«My dad lives proud of his Cuban identity. I want to thank all the efforts made by Inder, the Cuban government and its consulate in Spain, for the rapid processing of everything and for the support they have given us to have him here, “he stressed.
