Regionalliga West: Demolition at Tivoli – Wattenscheid loses again

The SG Wattenscheid concedes the next defeat in the Regionalliga West and stays at the bottom, demolition between Alemannia Aachen and Mönchengladbach II.

At the end of the 11th matchday of the Regionalliga West it was for the SG Wattenscheid the next defeat. In front of 841 spectators in the Lohrheide Stadium there was against SV Lippstadt it a 0:2 (0:0). The game was abandoned at Tivoli.

From the beginning both teams showed a fighting performance at the Lohrheide. Kilian Neufeld in the Wattenscheider box was there at the beginning against Viktor Maier (2nd) and Marvin Mika (17th), otherwise it wasn’t really dangerous in front of the gates.

Gradually, the SGW came into play and dared more: Kim Sane (27th, to the side netting) and Umut Yildiz (31st, over) recorded the first chances for the Wattenscheider. They were also unlucky when Emre Yesilova’s supposed opening goal was disallowed for offside (37′). So it went goalless in the cabins.

From which the SV Lippstadt came back wide awake – in contrast to Wattenscheid. Only moments after the restart, goalkeeper Neufeld wanted to let opponent Henri Matter get out with a body illusion and dribbled himself. The attacker only had to push the ball into the goal (48′). This uncertainty threw Wattenscheid out of the concept, Lippstadt pushed for the 0:2 – with success. First, Mika hit the post (61st), before top scorer Maier scored his seventh goal of the season (65th) and brought about the decision.

Game abandoned at Tivoli

The guests from Mönchengladbach experienced a lightning start in Aachen. Already in the second minute the ball wriggled in the net of Aachen goalkeeper Yannick Bangsow – Steffen Meuer had scored from 13 meters for the lead. As a result, Gladbach withdrew a bit, but Aachen didn’t have a really dangerous opportunity. The visitors held the lead at half-time.

The second round started quite energetically. Dimitry Imbongo had several chances for Aachen, while Semir Telalovic for Gladbach failed to make it 2-0 (48th). After this brisk phase, however, it became disorganized without many highlights. And that despite the fact that Aachen kicked the twelfth corner in the 83rd minute.

In the 88th minute, referee Jörn Schäfer blew the whistle and the game was stopped! As the “Aachener Nachrichten” reports, linesman Felix Weller was hit by a cup thrown out of the Aachen fan block in the 86th minute. More info to come…
