Real Madrid lost the lead in La Liga to FC Barcelona on Sunday. The team of coach Carlo Ancelotti did not go further than 1-1 against Osasuna, partly due to a missed penalty by Karim Benzema, and thus suffered the first loss of points of the season. In Italy, the Dutch tinted Atalanta is co-leader.
By our sports editorsIn the first half of Real-Osasuna, the home team dominated, who could welcome Benzema again after an injury. The reigning national champion took the deserved lead in its own Estadio Santiago Bernabéu just before half-time. A cross by Vinícius Júnior shot through and ended up in the far corner.
Osasuna tied the score in one of the few attacks. Kike García was the celebrated man among the visitors with a nice header, with which he gave Real goalkeeper Andriy Lunin no chance. Lunin replaced the injured Thibaut Courtois under the bar.
Ten minutes before the end, Real had an excellent chance to reach 2-1. Benzema was pushed to the ground in scoring position by Unai García, after which the referee drew a red card and awarded Real a penalty. Benzema hit the bar from 11 meters.
Shortly afterwards, a hit by the Frenchman was disallowed for offside. Against Osasuna’s ten men, Real was close to winning 2-1 a number of times in the final phase, but the visitors held out.
Due to the division of points, Real must leave the lead to FC Barcelona, which won 0-1 at Real Mallorca on Saturday. Real have as many points as the arch-rival (nineteen), but a much less goal difference (+18 to +11). At the end of the season, in the event of a tie, not only the goal difference but the mutual result is decisive. The two teams will face each other for the first time this season on October 16.

Dutch co-leader with Atalanta
In Italy, Marten de Roon, Teun Koopmeiners and Hans Hateboer continue to perform excellently with Atalanta. The club from Bergamo won 1-0 at home against Fiorentina and is therefore unbeaten in the Serie A with Napoli.
The only goal of the game came after an hour of play. Luís Muriel dribbled past two men after a throw-in on the left and gave the completely detached Ademola Lookman an unmissable opportunity.
At Atalanta, De Roon, Koopmeiners and Hateboer completed the ninety minutes. Koopmeiners dropped out with a concussion more than a week ago in the Nations League match of the Orange against Poland, but is therefore fit again.
Atalanta is on an excellent run in Serie A. The number eight of last season is unbeaten after eight games. Of those eight duels, the team of trainer Gian Piero Gasperini won six.
With twenty points, Atalanta shares the lead with Napoli. The latter club only has a better goal difference (+12 to +9). The Neapolitans, who won 3-1 against Torino on Saturday, will face Ajax in the Champions League on Tuesday.
