PSSI Holds Exco Meeting After TGIPF Announcement

Jakarta

PSSI immediately held an Executive Committee (Exco) meeting after the announcement of the Joint Independent Fact Finding Team (TGIPF). This meeting is to address the attitude of the federation.

TGIPF has completed its duties, Friday (14/10/2022), after several days of investigating and hearing statements from parties related to the Kanjuruhan Tragedy. There are at least nine recommendations and some conclusions for PSSI, PT Liga Indonesia Baru, the Executive Committee (Panpel), Security Officers, security forces, and supporters.

Of the nine recommendations, one of them asked PSSI General Chair Mochamad Iriawan and all Exco members. This condition is clearly a shock for PSSI, especially since there is a recommendation to hold an Extraordinary Congress (KLB) to replace the management of the federation.

detikSport come to the office PSSI to request the federation administrator’s comment shortly after the announcement TGIPF. A federation staff then approached and conveyed the message that he could not come to the PSSI office without making permission first.

Meanwhile, in the next experiment, PSSI Deputy Secretary General Maaike Ira Puspita appeared. He promised that his party would immediately make a statement regarding the TGIPF announcement.

“I’m sorry, please give us the opportunity to hold a meeting first to be able to respond to this situation properly,” said Maaike when met by reporters on the 6th floor of the GBK Arena, which is the federation’s office.

“Currently the conditions are not conducive, give us time first. Later there will be time for us to provide information, please wait downstairs first,” he said.

TGIPF is a team specially formed by the government in order to investigate the Kanjuruhan Tragedy. The government asked for an evaluation of the total system of organizing Indonesian football because 132 people died from the Arema FC supporter camp, Aremania.

Given the large number of fatalities and injuries, the government temporarily suspended football activities. The presence of TGIPF is actually a form of government intervention, but has received the blessing of FIFA.

Therefore, government intervention this time will not result in sanctions from FIFA. In addition to TGIPF, PSSI also collaborates with FIFA-AFC to improve Indonesian football towards a better direction.
