Paul Waring and Stephen Gallacher lead the Spanish Open, Matthieu Pavon 5th with Jon Rahm

After a missed cut at Dunhill, Matthieu Pavon continues his journey in the top 5 of the Spanish Open. Author of a first round Thursday in three 64 (-6), the Frenchman continued Friday with a 68. Starting from hole 10, his timid return to par (a birdie, a bogey) was followed by a go as conquering as the day before, with no less than four points won on the Campo Villa course, for a single point lost, at 8.

In Madrid, the Bordelais points to a total of -10, enough for a 5th place alongside in particular the 6th player in the world Jon Rahm (64-68). Leading at -12 are Paul Waring and 2014 Ryder Cup veteran Stephen Gallacher, who signed cards of 63 and 65 respectively.

Jacquelin in good shape, Dubuisson qualified

On the French side, the dean of the troop Raphaël Jacquelin is successful this week (67-68) after four missed cuts in a row. He is 16th, in -7. The Lyonnais is one shot and eight places ahead of Victor Dubuisson (67-69), which puts an end to a list of seven retirements or missed weekends.

In dire need of points for his future on the European circuit, Michaël Lorenzo-Vera is 36th, in -4, while Joël Stalter and Frédéric are the other two French survivors of the cut, in 55th place (-2).
