Olympic Games | Julia Figueroa seeks Olympic points in judo for Paris in Abu Dhabi

The Olympic judoka from Córdoba, Julia Figueroa, will face this Friday the Grand Slam de Abu Dhabi, an appointment in which he will compete in the weight of -48 kilos. The woman from Cordoba, who is currently number 3 in the world, will fight for the medals in a competition that will include many of the best on the circuit, since the tournament will score points for the qualifying ranking with a view to the next Olympic Games.

The Cordovan aspires in Abu Dhabi to add more points in their fight to win a place in two years at the Paris Games. Figueroa debuted in the most important four-year event in this sport in 2016 in Rio de Janeiro. Later he returned to compete in 2021 in Tokio. On both occasions she fell prematurely defeated, for which she sets herself the challenge of making amends.

Three podiums in 2022

Figueroa, 31 years old, has been on the podium three times in 2022 in a top-level international competition. He was first bronze in February at the Tel Aviv Grand Slam. Later he repeated third place in April at the European Championships in Sofia, an event in which he achieved his second medal in an absolute European championship. Her penultimate appearance was paid off in July with an excellent silver in the Grand Slam de Budapest. Just a few weeks ago he was one step away from the podium at the World Championships in Tashent, as he finished in fifth place.
