Octavio Becerra, from working as a taco player to pitching with the DodgersSeventh Entry

Octavio Becerra was born on February 3, 2021 in Tepatitlán de Morelos, Jalisco, Mexico; where he began his path in baseball within the regional leagues, while he worked in his uncle’s taqueria.

At the age of 17, the now pitcher of Los Angeles Dodgers was signed by the Aguascalientes railroad workers on the Mexican Baseball League (LMB), team with which he debuted during the 2018 season.

In the course of his second season as a professional player on the Mexican summer circuit, Becerra He was seen by a scout from the Los Angeles organization, who was in charge of recruiting him.

“I was 13 years old when I started working. She worked nights, studied in the mornings, and trained in the afternoons. That’s how it was every day,” the left-hander mentioned in a video created and published by Major League Baseball (MLB).

In 2021, after the suspension due to COVID-19, Becerra saw activity for the first time in the Arizona Complex League con ACL Dodgers at the Rookie level and, thanks to his good numbers, he was promoted to Class-A with Rancho Cucamonga Quakes on the California League to 2022.

“(Being as a taco maker) helped me a lot with discipline, to arrive early and respect people. If I related pitching to mincing meat, it would be like always looking for a way to make things a little easier; not only be pique and pique, but find a line for him to perform more and not be so complicated”, added the Mexican.
