Nîmes badminton thinks big

In 2006, a split took place within the sports association, which gave birth to Unanim’Bad, a club more oriented towards competition, elitism and high level; while OBC Nîmes continued to exist and focus on learning and training. But, since August 15, the decision has been made to join forces again and become one. Following this merger, the OBC Nîmes has more than 400 licensees.

The teams

OBC Nîmes has a team present in each departmental division and two teams in regional divisions (Regional 1 and Regional 2). During the 2021-2022 season, the pennant team evolved into a pre-national. Outsiders, the players managed to win their accession to National 3 hands down. This is historic for OBC Nîmes, since it is the first time that the club has entered a national division.
This result has the effect of attracting high-level players to the club, which is becoming more professional from year to year. The sporting objective is to remain in this division during the 2022-2023 season, the second day of which takes place on October 8 in Nîmes with a match against Grenoble Alpes Badminton.

Promote, train and develop

The OBC Nîmes also has the mission of promoting badminton and making as many people as possible want to practice it. This involves actions on the ground, such as the one organized last June at the Halles de Nîmes. A first in the city center since rue Guizot has been taken over by “badistes”. The club is also giving itself five years to develop inclusive sport for people in precarious situations or with disabilities. Recognized at national level, the OBC Nîmes is labeled Gold in terms of training and has received the “future club” label for its school. The latter is a federal label, the last step before the creation of a hope center that would welcome the best young French players. The club wants to be a pioneer in Occitania.
