NHL | Columbus – Boston 0:4, The unstoppable Pastrňák fired again and rules the entire NHL! Vaneček picked up zero

Another Czech goalkeeper duel took place on the ice of Arizona. Home team Karel Vejmelka had a lot more work to do, stopping 32 shots and helping the team earn a point for a 2-3 overtime loss to Winnipeg. On the opposite side, David Rittich started for the second time this season and scored both goals in the first 16 minutes. At the end of the opening period, he covered Nick Bjugstad’s escape at 1:2 and in the rest of the game he blocked all 12 shots. Overall, Rittich had 19 hits.

Vaněček, who was traded from Washington to New Jersey in the summer, picked up the first clean sheet in his new place and the seventh overall in his NHL career. He made the most important save against the defending Stanley Cup champions in the 50th minute, when he covered Evan Rodrigues’ escape with concrete. Vaněček was declared the biggest star of the match.

Vaněček was declared the biggest star of the match. “We played a good game. The guys worked hard, blocked shots and helped me a lot,” said Vaněček, who started his engagement in New Jersey with five conceded goals. However, he won in the next two starts from the opening minute. “Most of all, I wanted to get my first win for New Jersey. I did that last time in Detroit, I was relieved. It was a good feeling and I’m happy to have my first home win,” he added.

The only goal was scored at the beginning of the third period by Jack Hughes, who beat the French in a power play with a swing from the left circle. The Czech goalkeeper caught 22 of 23 shots and was saved by a coach’s call in the 15th minute, after which Miles Wood’s goal was called off due to offside.

In the 39th minute, Pastrňák adjusted the result from a quick counterattack to the final 4:0 with a shot from the left circle over the defender to the near post. The native of Havířovsk thus scored for the fourth time in a row, the seventh of the season, and in the ranking of scorers he is tied for second place behind Connor McDavid. Edmonton’s leader has one hit more. He contributed an assist on the first hit.

Pastrňák became the second star of the match, only goalkeeper Linus Ullmark was better, who eliminated all thirty shots. The first goal of the match was scored by defender Matt Grzelcyk in the 9th minute after assists by Pavel Zacha and David Pastrňák, who was followed up in the middle by Charlie Coyle’s weakening and Jake DeBrusk’s escape. Boston, which played in Columbus without David Krejci, won the eighth of nine games and leads the NHL table.

Boston coach Jim Montgomery said of Krejci’s absence that he suffered an upper-body injury in the last game in Detroit and that he would know more Saturday night after tests. However, according to initial reports, he should only miss the team for a few days. Zach replaced the Czech center in the center of the second attack.

“Our line played a great first period, we created a lot of chances and Grizzy scored. In the second we had nothing but a goal. It happens, sometimes it’s a little frustrating, but all our lines stepped up and that’s the main thing. It’s a big team victory,” Pastrňák was pleased. In the fourth row, Jakub Lauko, whom Boston took from the farm, started next to Tomáš Nosk.

Jiříček spent less than fifteen minutes on the ice, scored three hits, one shot and one negative point in the plus/minus statistics when he was on the ice for the third conceded goal. The Czech defender made his debut at the age of 18 years and 334 days, and only Rostislav Klesla (18 years and 200 days) made his debut in the NHL among defenders in the club’s history. Jiříček’s lineup was helped by injuries to two backs and performances on the farm in the AHL, where he recorded four passes in five games.

“He had good times and bad times, but he did pretty well for his first game. His speed was a bit of a problem, he needs to believe more. But that will come. I was encouraged by what I saw from him. He also added height to our team, which we needed ,” Columbus coach Brad Larsen said about Jiříček’s debut.

Nečas adjusted the score to 1:1 in the 29th minute, when he ran onto Brady Skjei’s pass in the renumbering and overthrew the concrete of goalkeeper Sorokin from close range. Carolina tied it once more in the second period, but Brock Nelson’s two hits for the Islanders played the rest of the game. Josh Bailey scored the winning goal and celebrated his thousandth start in the NHL in style.
