NFL: Former first-round pick retires

Quarterback Blake Bortles has confirmed that he is retiring from professional football, ending a career littered with ups and downs.

The 30-year-old revealed his intentions on Barstool Sports’ “Pardon My Take” podcast.

The third overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, Bortles had 17,649 passing yards, completing nearly 60% of his passes. He had 103 touchdowns and 75 interceptions.

Before ending his career by playing three games with the Los Angeles Rams in 2019, then benefiting from unsuccessful trials with the Green Bay Packers and the New Orleans Saints, he played for the Jacksonville Jaguars for five seasons. , helping them reach the American Association Finals in 2017.
