Matteo Trentin succeeds Xandro Meurisse in the Tour of Veneto | cycling

Matteo Trentin (UAE) has added a nice victory to his honors list at the last minute. In the Tour of Veneto he took part in a flight and was lord and master in the final. Mathieu van der Poel gave up in the final.

Alpecin-Deceuninck started with a nice team, with not only eye-catcher Mathieu van der Poel but also defending champion Xandro Meurisse.

In the end, two other riders of the team – Van der Poel even got out in the last race hour – would color the final. Nicola Conci and Jay Vine, together with Matteo Trentin, Alessandro De Marchi and Miguel Angel Lopez, went in search of the early escapees.

A mix of both groups would battle for victory in Vicenza. Trentin countered all attacks and eventually dealt with French Rochas and Vercher with ease.

For Trentin it is the 3rd victory of the season, for his team UAE the 47th. This brings the team from the Emirates to 1 victory against Jumbo-Visma. It will be exciting in the remaining races which team will eventually run with the most victories. Jumbo-Visma will only start riders in the Chrono des Nations.
