Maria Sakkari attacks “Twitter journalists”.

Maria Sakkari, 7th in the world, called out to “Twitter journalists” who “have no life” and give themselves the right to criticize WTA players. On Wednesday, No. 1 seed Sakkari rallied from a set loss to beat Arantxa Rus 3-6 6-2 6-3 in the round of 16 in Parma.

After the match, Sakkari responded to the criticism that is often leveled at WTA players. “The level of the WTA is very high. I don’t agree with the journalists on Twitter who have no life and only criticize the players.

You have to respect every singles player, because you don’t know what they are going through, you have to respect women’s tennis and the players,” Sakkari told Alessandro Nizegorodcew.

Sakkari finds his game in Parma

In March, Sakkari finished second in the Indian Wells WTA 1000 event.

Then, after Miami, Sakkari moved up to No. 2 in the world, her career-best ranking. Since then, Sakkari has had many disappointing results and early exits from tournaments.

In August, Sakkari honestly admitted the reason for his poor form. “I sat with Tom Hill for many hours and realized that I didn’t like being one of the best players in the world, which was very hard to admit and deal with,” Sakkari said.

“But it’s the truth. It’s the reality. I think the pressure and everything was something I had to deal with.” This week in Parma, Sakkari reached her first quarter-final since June, when she reached the semi-final in Berlin.

After posting a lackluster score on the North American hard court tour, Sakkari has decided to return to clay and take part in the WTA competition in Parma this week.

In Parma, Sakkari has managed to win three games and she has a chance to claim her first title of the season. Sakkari takes on Danka Kovinic.
