Looking for Grandfather to reach the 2024 Olympics | Forward Valley

TIJUANA — In 2021, Luis Álvarez Murillo made not only Baja California vibrate, but all of Mexico with the bronze obtained at the Tokyo Olympics, and today, his mentality is to surpass that feat in Paris 2024.

For two weeks, the historic goalkeeper from Baja California, who was also present at the 2012 London Olympics, has been training at the Tijuana High Performance Center, teaming up with coach Luis Alfaro, with whom he hopes to succeed in the next Olympic cycle.

The Mexicalense athlete not only points to the next edition, but also ensures that the purpose of moving forward in this sport is to meet the next two Olympic cycles, focused on Paris 2024 and later Los Angeles 2028, but he is aware that he must go step step by step first fulfilling objectives that mark the sports calendar.

The famous “Grandfather” said he was very happy to once again take the Tijuana CAR as his main training center.

“This is the best facility in Latin America to practice archery, I don’t need to go anywhere else for now, here I have everything, here I feel very comfortable, very happy,” he said.

Reconnecting with an old adventure partner like Luis Alfaro representing Baja California in youth competitions and, later wearing the uniform of the Mexican team, are situations that the native of the capital of Baja California never forgets.

“We spent a lot of very nice things together, time took us down different paths, but now we will work together and that motivates me, because we have a lot of trust in each other,” he shared.

The also First Sergeant in Physical Education and Sports by the Mexican Army, thanked the General Director of the Institute of Sports and Physical Culture of Baja California, Lourdes Cañez Martínez, for the support he has received from her.

“It is important to receive that support, it allows one to focus only on training and giving the best of oneself, since his arrival the support for me has been total, the truth is that I feel very comfortable in the CAR of Tijuana, here I am very well looked after, eating in the dining room, sleeping in the athletic village, and I am working like I haven’t done in a long time”, he concluded.
