Lionel Messi: What Paris Saint-Germain offer in a new contract – FOOTBALL INTERNATIONAL

“I feel good, I feel different than last year. I knew it would come to this. I’ve said it before: I’ve had a bad time, I never really found myself.”

Superstar Lionel Messi (35) has slowly but surely arrived at Paris Saint-Germain – even if the start was not easy.

The Ligue 1 club is also apparently very satisfied with the performance of the Argentine international. Because: PSG would like to offer the superstar a new contract as soon as possible. The framework conditions for this have already been defined. This is reported by the radio station “Cadena Ser”. The contract of the offensive whirlwind expires after the season after two years.

According to the report, PSG are offering Messi a new two-year contract – without a usual salary increase. So economic conditions would not change. Messi is currently said to earn €30m a year at the French giants. So he could do that in the next two years. Messi is already checking whether this offer appeals to him, the report says.

PSG manager Luis Campos (58) had recently made it clear to “RMC” that they were very interested in continuing to work with Messi in the future.

Or does ex-club Barça still intervene?

Eduard Romeu, vice-president of FC Barcelona and responsible for financial matters at the club, had assured a few days ago that Messi’s return would not pose any problems for the Catalans. “It would be financially possible because then he would return on a free transfer,” Romeu explained of Messi.

A decision about a change must be made by the coaching staff and the player himself. I’m not the right person for this, but it can be done. He’s a club icon, this will always be his home.”

Messi left the LaLiga club in 2021 after more than 21 years for PSG. The heavily indebted club simply couldn’t accommodate the wishes of the seven-time Ballon d’Or winners anymore. Now the financial situation seems to have eased, so that Messi could apparently be tied back to himself.

Now it’s up to Messi to decide where he wants to play in the future…
