Juventus rests on the wings

Juventus rests on the wings with a 3-5-2 formation applied by Massimiliano Allegri. They rely on the ability of Filip Kostic and Juan Cuadrado.

Juventus managed to win 4-0 when they hosted Empoli at the Allianz Stadium in the Italian League continued match, Saturday (10/22/2022) early morning WIB. The Old Lady’s four goals came from Moise Kean, Weston McKennie and Adrien Rabiot’s brace.

In this match, Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri returned to using a 3-5-2 formation. The formation he also applied when Juventus won 1-0 over Torino.

This tactic is proven to be able to bring Juventus back to victory. This pattern of play makes Juventus rely on the wing sector.

Filip Kostic and Juan Cuadrado, who operated as left and right wing backs, became the focus of the Old Lady’s attack. Evidently four of the Bianconeri’s goals all came from the wing sector. Two of them started from Cuadrado corner kicks.

Massimiliano Allegri admits that he is trying to optimize the ability of Kostic and Cuadrado in releasing crosses in this match. This is inseparable from the meeting game shown by Empoli.

“It’s natural that with Cuadrado and Kostic on the wings, we need to make the most of them, especially because Empoli are playing very tight and we need to widen their defense a little bit,” Allegri was quoted as saying by Football Italia.

“I don’t think we penetrated him enough on the right in the first half, because McKennie has a good engine, but his characteristics are not too many in creating movement. We were better after the break,” he explained.
