Just one break point. Kvitova faced the cannonade of the Wimbledon winner in vain

“I was waiting for chances, but I didn’t get them. It’s mentally challenging to switch from side to side, although I’ve managed it at times. It was very even from the back and it could have gone either way, but she served well when she needed to. And that decided it. In addition, she had ten break points,” sighed Kvitová, who only got to one break point in the match and did not convert it.

“I wasn’t very well, but I wasn’t the worst either. I think I lacked the strength, but I left everything there. The match was extremely difficult and very high quality. She played better and deserved to win,” acknowledged Kvitová, who led 4:2 in the tie break, but did not finish the important part of the match.

“I played the tie break decently except for one double fault. But if (Rybakinová) played like that in the Wimbledon final, then her stroke length and how flat they are must work on that grass. Especially her serve must be elusive,” nodded the Czech Wimbledon champion from 2011 and 2014.

After participating in Ostrava, Kvitová still has tournaments in San Diego and Guadalajara planned.

“I hope my health will last. It’s played outside, which I can’t quite imagine after the hall. I haven’t started in Mexico yet. But the end of the season is always more demanding mentally and physically, so we’ll see,” said Kvitová, who will not play in November’s BJK Cup final tournament in Glasgow.

“Since I finish after Mexico, the program is not quite good for me to play in the team competition. So I want to rest and prepare for the next season.”
