Mascha Ballhaus, who only had to start in the second round after a bye, was defeated in the weight class up to 52 kg by the Polish athlete Aleksandra Kaleta.

Lennart Slamberger from Leipzig was able to prevail in the class up to 66 kg in his first round match against Juan Postigos from Peru, but lost in the following round to Vice-European Champion Alberto Gaitero Martin (Spain).

The account of the DJB-squad still stands at a medal, on Saturday with Alexander Bernd Gabler and Igor Wandtke two athletes start in the traditionally strong class up to 73 kg. Pauline Starke competes in the women’s category up to 57 kg.
