Entering the 41st week as of October 11, 2022, the Badminton World Federation (BWF) again updated the rankings of the world’s top badminton players. Jonathan Christie is one of the Indonesian athletes who experienced a ranking change.
On the BWF website, it can be seen that Jonathan’s name, which was originally ranked eighth in the top ten men’s singles sector, has risen to seventh position with a total of 76,912 points. He is close to Anthony who is stable in sixth place with 77,599 points.
He shifted Japan’s mainstay badminton player Kento Momota who continued to decline to ninth position. Above Kento, there is Lakshya Sen (India) who rose to eighth position.

Another Indonesian player that has changed again is the men’s doubles Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo/Marcus Fernaldi Gideon. Unfortunately, after rising to second place last week, the Minions fell back in position. Now Kevin/Marcus are in third place, replaced by Lee Yang/Wang Chi Lin (Taiwan).
Meanwhile, other Indonesian badminton athletes, especially those in the top 10 in the world, are still in their respective positions.
For example, Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan and Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto. They are still in position, namely fifth and sixth respectively in the men’s doubles sector.
The ranking of Greysia Polii/Apriyani Rahayu also remains in fifth place even though the two pairs are no longer competing together in the women’s doubles sector. Greysia has declared hanging up the racket in June.
Meanwhile, Apriyani, who is now paired with Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti, is still trying to enter the top ten in the world. Currently, the two are ranked 24th after moving up two places with a total of 45,690 points.
Similarly, Praveen Jordan/Melati Daeva who are ranked fifth. Both have been absent from several tournaments since last June. Praveen is still recovering from the injury he suffered during the Indonesia Open 2022.
Melati while waiting for Praveen’s recovery has undergone a number of tournaments with her temporary partner, viz. Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani and Hafiz Faizal.
Together with Reza, she won the runner-up in the Indonesia International Series 2022 tournament and the quarter-finals of the Vietnam Open 2022. While with Hafiz, Melati will only be tested at the Indonesia International Challenge from October 11-16, and the Indonesia Masters 2022 in Malang, on October 18-23.
