Jeong-il Yoon, Seung-mo Son, Hong-won Lee, and Hyun-soo Park were selected for the ‘Citizen’s Grand Prize’ in Miryang City

The city of Miryang, Gyeongsangnam-do, announced the winners of the ’24th Citizens’ Grand Prize, which contributed to the promotion of citizens’ welfare and the development of the local community, by culture, sports, industry, and service sectors, and announced on the 2nd.

Four people were selected as the recipients of this year’s Miryang Citizens’ Grand Prize: △Cultural Division Chairman Yoon Jeong-il, Miryang Arirang Preservation Association △ Sports Division Miryang City Badminton Team Manager Son Seung-mo △ Industrial Division Lee Hong-won, CEO of Hwayoung Co., Ltd. △ Volunteering Division, Park Hyun-soo, CEO of Georim Chemical.

Yoon Jeong-il, 78-year-old from Nai-dong, has been contributing to the development of local culture and art by serving as the president of the Miryang branch of the Korean Federation of Arts and Cultural Organizations for 4 years from 2009 and the president of the Miryang Arirang Preservation Association from 2019 to the present.

Son Seung-mo (42), the winner of the sports category, was a medalist who won a silver medal at the 2004 Athens Olympics after playing as a member of the Miryang Elementary School, Middle and High Schools, and the Miryang City Hall badminton team. From 2014 to the present, he has been the manager of the Miryang City Hall badminton team.

Hong-won Lee (66), a native of Muan-myeon, is a local entrepreneur who started as Hwayeong Industrial in 1978 and has grown into the current Hwayoung Co., Ltd. through ceaseless technological development and management innovation. He served as Chairman of the Miryang Chamber of Commerce from 2012 to 2018, and greatly contributed to the promotion of the rights and interests of local business people and the development of the local economy.

Park Hyun-soo (64) from Sangdong-myeon, the recipient of the volunteer category, is a representative of Georim Chemical, a company specializing in women’s shoes, and as the president of the Sejong Scholarship Association, he is contributing greatly to nurturing local talent by providing scholarships every year. Since 2020, she has served as the president of the Miryang Hometown Association, where she has been recognized for her contribution to improving the hometown network.

Mayor Park Il-ho emphasized, “I will represent the 110,000 people of Miryang to those who have worked hard with diverse moving stories in their respective fields to honor their achievements.”

Awards to the winners of the Citizens’ Grand Prize will be held at the ’27th Miryang Citizen’s Day Commemorative Event’ on the 16th in connection with the 2022 Korean Culture Month event.
