It’s also possible: red lantern Nottingham Forest continues longer with coach Steve Cooper | Premier League

Steve Cooper (42) was the king of Nottingham Forest this summer.

The coach took over from Forest in September 2021, which was then struggling in the basement of the Championship.

But under Cooper, the tradition club actually forced promotion to the Premier League in the play-offs.

The club of Greek businessman Evangelos Marinakis threw the money through windows and doors this summer and handed Cooper a bag with no fewer than 22 new players.

But that turned out not to be the right recipe to immediately let the club play safely at the highest level after an absence of 23 years.

Forest has only won 1 of his 8 matches and has already conceded 21 goals, 16 of which in his last 4 matches. On Monday it lost 4-0 at Leicester.

And yet Cooper has been awarded a contract extension with the closing: he will stay until 2024-2025.

“It’s important that our focus is now solely on football,” Forest said in the striking move.
