Hidalgo’s representative squad was among the top four in the National Basketball Championship, in the Under 18 category, in a tournament held in Chiapas.
Before the final, the state team faced Nayarit, and in an intense match they fell 68-55.
For the match for third place, Hidalgo faced Nuevo León, but again fell.
The entity’s team qualified for the second phase of the tournament, after placing second in its sector, with five units.
In the opening game, the Hidalguenses lost 90-36 to Baja California, but recovered for the next couple of games, in which they beat the State of Mexico and Michoacán, 55-39 and 75-56, respectively.
After that, they came out ahead in the round of 16, after accounting for Oaxaca 78-45, a similar action in the quarterfinals, an instance in which they faced Yucatán, a quintet that they defeated 66-56, to place themselves among the four best.

This is the second tournament of this magnitude in which the entity is among the best, as a similar situation occurred in the national women’s under 17, which was held in Pachuca, and in which Hidalgo took fourth place.
