GOLF: The golf courses of Montceau-les-Mines and Montchanin celebrated the 30th anniversary of their relationship

For the occasion, a two-day competition was organized and ended in Avoise this Sunday.

Every year, the golf courses of Montceau-les-Mines and Avoise have the habit of organizing an interclub at the end of the season. This weekend, the event was special since it marked the 30-year relationship between the two golf courses, which opened a year apart. The opening of Avoise in 1992 followed that of Montceau-les-Mines in 1991.
The first day of competition took place on Saturday October 1st in Montceau-les-Mines under heavy rain accompanied by wind. 24 courageous people from both clubs came to face the terrain and the weather. Montceau-les-Mines then took a 20-point lead over the Avoise club at the end of the first day.

On Sunday, still in scramble at 2, 40 players were ready to do battle, either to confirm the lead or to recover it. The day was much better than the first, with an autumn sun, but was still very windy.
At the end of the day, the Avoise golf director, Alexandre Touget, and the AS de Montceau treasurer, Geneviève Layus, presented the prizes and announced the winning club. On the second day, the Montcellians recovered another 6 points from the Montchaninois, thus bringing another victory to the club. A victory which is added to those of the last 9 years, at least. Whatever the outcome, the event was convivial and marks years of good relations between the two clubs. See you next year, with the hope of seeing Avoise win!
Finally, it should be noted that this weekend of competition was special for the Montceau-les-Mines golf course. Indeed, since October 1, the municipal golf course has become managed by the sports association whose objective is to develop the activity with new projects and the arrival of a new Pro. The city therefore ceases to manage golf but does not abandon it either, and can lend a hand if necessary.
