The Quindío athlete Gerald Giraldo won the gold medal in the 3,000 meter steeplechase (8:40:27 minutes) of the Asunción 2022 South American Sports Games, consolidating his favoritism and bringing joy to the department of Quindío.

With Olympic experience, the coffee grower continues to make a name for himself in international athletics and advances steadily in search of his great goal: his presence in the Paris-2024 Olympic Games, after his presentation in Brazil-2016.

The long-distance runner’s medal is added to the bronze obtained by María Julieth Pérez, in badminton, in the team modality, and the 2 medals of the same metal obtained by Clara Juliana Guerrero, in the women’s doubles and individual modalities.

Both Giraldo and the 2 athletes are making progress in their preparation for their great challenge next year, their presence at the XXII National Sports Games in the Coffee Region 2023, in which they hope to make the home team respected.
