Beşiktaş Emlakjet defeated Galatasaray Nef 74-67 away in the derby in the 4th week of the Turkish Insurance Basketball Super League.
In the first minutes of the match, Okben, Mooney and Orelik hit the outside shots, and with McCormack, they established a serious physical superiority over their opponents under the basket. Bringing the score to 11-2 in the 4th minute of the match, the black and white team allowed Galatasaray Head Coach Pistiolis to take an early break. The remaining part, in which Orelik in black-whites and Göksenin and Sadık in yellow-reds came to the fore, was balanced. Beşiktaş Emlakjet finished the first quarter of the match ahead 21-16.
Starting the second period better with the support of their fans, the yellow-red team reduced the gap to 1 point (24-25) in the 12th minute with the baskets Bost found from the outside. Responding to their opponent with 4 points produced by Mooney and Coleman from the painted area, Beşiktaş maintained its superiority with a score of 29-24 at the beginning of the 14th minute. The home team, which was effective with the 3-pointers from Angola and Bost, drew 30-30 in the 15th minute. Angola and Sadık responded to the baskets that Furkan Haltalı found under the basket, and the yellow-red team went ahead 35-34 in the 17th minute. After good defense, Galatasaray Nef scored 3-pointers with Göksenin and Yunus Emre, and scored a 7-point lead at the beginning of the 19th minute: 43-36. Maintaining their superiority in the remaining approximately 1-minute period, the yellow-red team went ahead 43-38 into the locker room.
Beşiktaş started the second half of the fight well. After the shots that Yunus Emre, Bost and Sadik missed from behind the 3-point line, the black-whites, who found a 6-0 series from under the basket with McCormack and Usher, took the lead 44-43 in the 23rd minute. Evaluating Galatasaray’s return from the offensive, the black-and-whites found a 6-point (45-51) difference in the 27th minute. While Galatasaray Nef could only score 3 points during the third quarter, Beşiktaş Emlakjet scored 13 points and was ahead 51-46 in the final quarter.
Continuing their effective performance in the last quarter, the black and white team carried the lead to double digits with Usher’s 3-pointer at the beginning of the 36th minute: 56-67. Going behind 11 points in the last 4 minutes, the yellow-red team caught an 8-0 series under the leadership of Bost and reduced the lead to 3 points with 1 minute and 25 seconds left: 64-67. Going ahead 69-67 in the last minute, Beşiktaş increased the lead to 5 with Orelik’s 3-pointer with 40 seconds remaining: 67-72. Finding 2 more points in the remaining section, Beşiktaş won the match 74-67 by 7 points.
Usher, one of the basketball players who played the leading role in the victory by scoring 17 points in the black-and-whites, became the top scorer of the match. This player was accompanied by Orelik with 15 points and 9 rebounds, Okben Ulubay with 13 points and McCormack with 8 points and 16 rebounds. In the yellow-red team, 16 points by Bost, 11 points by Sadık Emir Kabaca, 10 each by Ennis and Göksenin Köksal were not enough to prevent the defeat.
With this result, Galatasaray Nef was defeated for the third time in the league at the end of the 4th week, while Beşiktaş Emlakjet got its first win.
