They stayed on their good run. Fifteen days after brilliantly winning the European Club Cup in Bulgaria, the international archers followed up with equally convincing results in the first stage of the selections to form the France 2023 team.
In difficult conditions at the beginning of last week, in Compiègne, with rainy and cool weather, and fortunately more lenient later, Lisa Barbelin, Audrey Adiceom and Caroline Lopez completed this first qualifying phase in the first three places.
The challenge for the candidates for the national team next season was to stay in the race, finishing in one of the first eight places.
The Riomoises therefore did much better since Lisa Barbelin won in the end, after shooting some 720 arrows during the week, ahead of Audrey Adiceom (2nd) and Caroline Lopez (3rd), all three of whom were well on their way to joining the France 2023 team.

“My goal was clearly to finish at the top of the rankings and to go for the French record, I almost reached my goal and I am very proud of it, declared the winner of these selections, Lisa Barbelin, on the FFTA website. Among the men, where the Rennais Nicolas Bernardi was the most successful, ahead of the Rio Olympic vice-champion, Jean-Charles Valladont (Nîmes) and Baptiste Addis (Manduel), two Riomois can continue to believe in their chances of being part of of the tricolor collective 2023.

Nothing is lost indeed for Romain Fichet, at the foot of the podium (4th) in Compiègne, nor for that matter for Maxence Jamot, who also entered the top 8 (7th) and therefore qualified for the second stage of the national selections.
