Formula 1 – Ricciardo becomes reserve driver – Sport

The Australian Daniel Ricciardo is to become a reserve driver for the current constructors’ world champion Mercedes in the coming Formula 1 season. As the French TV broadcaster Canal Plus reports, the negotiations between the 33-year-old and the factory team of the German car manufacturer are at an “advanced stage”. There is no official confirmation of this yet. Ricciardo will still be driving at McLaren until the end of the year and after two years he will no longer get a contract with the English for 2023. In the Silver Arrows, the eight-time Grand Prix winner would be the future substitute for the British Lewis Hamilton and George Russell.
