Football: FC Nuremberg will no longer play a match in the evening in order to “save energy”

FC Nuremberg played their last match in the evening on September 9 against Arminia Bielefeld. The municipal council of the city of Bavaria has, in fact, restricted this Friday the use of the projectors of the Max-Morlock stadium until “nine o’clock in the evening maximum”, in order to reduce its energy consumption in the context of the energy crisis. The current 13th in the 2nd German division will therefore no longer be able to play his home matches in the evening. Bundesliga 2 matches take place in four stages: Friday evening, Saturday at the start of the afternoon, Saturday evening and Sunday at the start of the afternoon.

“Gas and electricity could fail in winter. This is why the city council has re-discussed ways to save energy,” the city said in a statement, adding that it had made the decision to limit the use of floodlights and under-pitch heating: “ The pitch heating in the stadium will remain off after an agreement with the German Football League (DFL). FC Nuremberg will play their next home game on Sunday, October 9 at 1:30 p.m. against Holsteil Kiel for Matchday 11.
