Fajar/Rian Challenge Kevin/Marcus in the Final

All-Indonesian final in men’s doubles Denmark Open 2022. Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto qualified for the final after defeating Ong Yew Sin / Teo Ee Yi.

In the semifinal match at Jyske Bank Arena, Saturday (10/22/2022) evening WIB, Fajar/Rian won two straight games over Ong/Teo. The match was tight before Fajar/Rian won 21-16, 22-20.

The duel has been fierce since the beginning of the first game. Fajar/Rian and Ong/Teo chased each other to a 8-8 draw.

After trailing 10-11 at the interval, Fajar/Rian won six consecutive points to lead 17-12. After getting game points through Rian’s drop shot, Fajar/Rian were able to secure the first game 21-16.

Chasing points again occurred at the beginning of the second game. The difference in points between the two pairs was never more than two points until the position was tied at 8-8.

After that, Ong/Teo won five consecutive points and left Fajar/Rian 8-13 behind. Several times Fajar/Rian’s smashes could be returned by Ong/Teo who were solid in defense.

Fajar/Rian who had trailed 12-17 then won five consecutive points to equalize. After that, the fight was fierce again.

Fajar / Rian had a match point at 20-19. After failing to lock in the win, Fajar/Rian finally won with a score of 22-20.

Thus, it is certain that Indonesia will bring home the title of champion in the men’s doubles from the Denmark Open 2022. Fajar/Rian will face Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo/Marcus Fernaldi Gideon in the finals.

Kevin/Marcus have already confirmed tickets to the final Denmark Open 2022 after defeating Aaron Chia / Soh Wooi Yik. They won over the world champions with a score of 21-17, 13-21, 21-17.
