Evaluation of Kevin/Marcus after being eliminated at the French Open 2022

Jakarta

Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo/Marcus Fernaldi Gideon revealed their evaluation after being eliminated early at the French Open 2022. They highlighted changes in shuttlecocks and performance.

Instead of being able to repeat the same success as the Denmark Open, Kevin/Marcus were surprisingly eliminated in the first round of the BWF Super 750 tournament.

The second seed’s move was stopped by Taiwanese representatives Lu Ching Yao / Yang Po Han in a tight match 15-21, 21-15, and 21-17. The match they sufahi in 66 minutes.

Even though they lost, Kevin/Marcus are still grateful for the results they got in the tournament with a total prize of US$675,000. But not without evaluation.

“We are grateful that we are still given health. Today (yesterday’s first round) we didn’t get the feel of playing from the start, maybe there was a slight change starting from the shuttlecock,” said Marcus in a written statement.

“But that is not the reason for our defeat. Our performance is also different, not as good as yesterday at the Denmark Open.”

“The opponents in the third game were also more daring. They played fast in the third game by taking the initiative to attack first,” he said.

Kevin said the same thing. He admitted the opponent he faced with Marcus was better than them in terms of playing quality.

“The opponents played pretty well. They’re pretty calm with not much to die alone,” said Kevin.
