England: the improbable pigeon wing of an English defender to score an incredible goal

The ecstatic joy is equal to the surprise of scoring such a goal. In the Championship, England’s second division, it didn’t take long to witness one of the most unlikely goals of the season. During the meeting between Birmingham City and Queens Park Rangers, ultimately won 2-0 by the locals, central defender Auston Trusty stood out with an action that was anything but obvious.

From the 4th minute of the game, on a corner kick from the left, the ball flies into the heart of the penalty area, it is pushed back with a header by a defender before falling back into the feet of a Birmingham City player. He then tries a volley oriented like a cross towards his teammates.

The ball arrives at Auston Trusty, completely back to goal, who launches a kind of lobed pigeon wing in a touch. Too advanced, the QPR goalkeeper is caught by this improbable shot, and lobbed before finishing the buttocks on the ground in his own net.

Twenty minutes later, Emmanuel Longelo took on the task of adding to the score (29th, 2-0) to secure the victory for his team, in a match that nevertheless gave the visitors the advantage in statistical terms (15 shots to 7 for QPR). In the English D2 standings, Birmingham now find themselves 11th, while Queens Park Rangers hold second place.
