This Saturday afternoon, Deportivo Cali suffered its first defeat under the orders of the new coaching staff, led by coach Jorge Luis Pinto, falling 1-0 away against Independiente Santa Fe, for date 19 of the BetPlay Dimayor II League. -2022, at the Nemesio Camacho el Campín stadium in Bogotá.

He added: “Cali once again showed that face of a great team, which comes to the capital to propose and search. It had that flaw, but there were good things. We faced a team that is not easy, they had a definitive match for their classification and therefore, they were going to make it difficult for us. But I’m happy with the production of all the players”.
He liked some aspects that the group showed: “I am happy with the production of all the players, there were very good things. I especially loved the second half, we put Santa Fe almost in an arc, we pressed him in his field. In short, many good things that make me happy for the boys, who have been working with me and this group has to progress more”.
Regarding the choice of payroll for the first half, he said that “it seems to me that we regulate, I know which players are very well prepared for the height and who are not. I have directed at least 450 parties here in Bogotá with those from here and those from abroad; I know what height is like and I feel that today I made a great exploitation of the player at height, without losing performance, productivity and game functionality”.
He highlighted what was done in the complementary part: “in the first logical half, Santa Fe played hard. The errors of some handling of the counterattack in two or three actions, that makes it a bit difficult, but I feel that we had a lot of possession, we played in the opposite field almost the entire second half. That gives us peace of mind about what we have been doing, this team is progressing and will do much more”.
