The Los Angeles Lakers did not have a good debut in the NBA preseason, after losing 105-75 to the Sacramento Kings.
After the commitment, Lakers coach Darvin Ham was asked about point guard Russell Westbrook, who continues to be mentioned in various trade rumors.
“He is ours and we love him, we want him to do well and I have a plan that includes him. When I got the coaching job I always had Westbrook in my plans and during training camp he’s been working hard and showing tremendous energy,” Ham said after the match.
It is clear that the new coach of the Los Angeles team wants to have the former NBA MVP for the 2022-2023 season, but of course several members of the franchise management continue to explore options to change him.
In the game against the Kings, Russell Westbrook spent 15 minutes on the court, during which time he contributed 5 points, 3 assists and 2 rebounds. Anthony Davis and LeBron James each played 16 minutes and, like “Russ,” are expected to increase their workload as the preseason progresses.
The Lakers will begin their journey through the regular season on October 18 against the defending champion Golden State Warriors.
