Cristiano Ronaldo is allowed to play at United

Cristiano Ronaldo started Manchester United in the first game after his suspension and scored straight away. The 37-year-old scored Manchester’s third and final goal in the 81st minute of the 3-0 (1-0) win in the Europa League game against Sheriff Tiraspol. Diogo Dalot (44th) and Marcus Rashford (65th) had previously scored. After his goal, Ronaldo celebrated in his new way, folded his arms in front of his chest, closed his eyes and stood in front of the stands.

The Portuguese professional returned to team training on Tuesday after being suspended by coach Erik ten Hag last Thursday. The reason for the ban was Ronaldo’s premature departure in the Premier League game against Tottenham Hotspur, when the five-time world footballer – once again only a substitute – had already left the interior of the stadium before the final whistle.

After the scandal, the Dutch coach ordered individual sessions for Ronaldo with the club’s fitness trainers and did not consider him for last Saturday’s league game at Chelsea (1-1).

Arsenal missed early qualification

Premier League leaders Arsenal failed to qualify early for the round of 16. Coach Mikel Arteta’s team lost 2-0 (0-0) at PSV Eindhoven. Former Gladbach professional Luuk de Jong set up Joey Veerman’s opening goal (56′), the Dutchman scored the second goal himself (63′). Eindhoven thus reduced the gap to Arsenal to two points.

The Belgian club Union St. Gilloise, on the other hand, advances early to the round of 16 in the Europa League. Union Berlin’s group opponents won 2-0 (2-0) at Malmö FF on Thursday with goals from Teddy Teuma (10′) and Jean Lazare Amani (42′) and with 13 points can no longer move from first place in Group D be ousted.
