“The ball is round and a game lasts 90 minutes” – Sepp Herberger, world champion coach in 1954.

The Conference League game between Cologne and Slovacko (1-0) unhinges Herberg’s football wisdom, at least in part. The game begins with a throw-in from Cologne’s Schindler – in the eighth minute.

What happened?

Fog chaos the day before, twice the kick-off is postponed. At 8:22 p.m., the referee Kruashvili (Georgia) has not seen anything for a long time and leads the teams into the dressing room. The game resumes at 1 p.m. on Friday. Almost 1000 Cologne fans stayed to cheer on their team.

▶ 51. Minute: Travnik clears Adamyan in the sixteen, penalty for Cologne. FC captain Kainz starts – Slovacko keeper Nguyen saves.

In the second attempt, the Rhinelanders do it better!

With the win for Cologne (seven points) against Nice (eight points) it comes next week in the Euro final in their own four walls.

If Slovacko at least draws against Partizan, the team of coach Steffen Baumgart (50) would even win the group.
