The Board of Trustees of the Caja Rural de Aragón Foundation has granted the Excellence Scholarships 2022 to twenty young people, who are recognized by the joint effort in study and sports. All of them are students who attended ESO or Bachiller in 2021-2022, between twelve and eighteen years old and who shone sportingly from September 1, 2021 to September 1, 2022.
This fifth call received 133 applications to receive the 900 euros granted per scholarship. 61.6% of the total number of candidacies submitted were from women and 38.4% from men. A total of 27 sports federations have been represented through young people who practice sports in an outstanding way.
Of the total number of files received, 10 applications correspond to young people who completed Secondary School in their last year and, therefore, their age to apply for these Scholarships has expired. On the contrary, 23 candidatures were presented for the first time when they were in 1st year of ESO last school year.
Nine of them achieved Excellence Scholarship in 2021 and repeat in this year’s edition and one of them, David Cartiel, has obtained it in the last four consecutive editions. The twelve young people who receive the Excellence Scholarship for the first time join the 51 excellent ones who have received it to date, reaching a total of 63 people who have been beneficiaries of this Scholarship in its five editions.
The weight of academic grades in the overall score calculation was 40% while the sports part was awarded 60%, according to the call bases. The average academic grade obtained by the twenty files selected in this edition is 9.04, while 70% of the young people are state champions in their sports specialty. Despite his youth, fourteen of them have already participated in international competitions representing Spain and have obtained the European or world title. Twelve sports federations will be represented at the upcoming ceremony.
The Excellence Scholarships will be delivered next December 22 at 6:00 p.m., at the Caja Rural de Aragón Building in Zaragoza, at a Gala in which they will be accompanied by family, coaches and friends.
