The AS Monaco of Philippe Clement did not have a child with Nantes on Sunday evening on the ninth match day of the Ligue 1. A blitz start resulted in a 4-1 final score, Wissam Ben Yedder was the star with three roses. In the standings, Monaco dives into the top five.
After a rough patch in August, Clement got his team back on track in September. AS Monaco was able to receive Nantes with a 9 out of 9 in the back pocket.
The Monegasques started scorching with early hits from Switzerland’s Breel Embolo and Wissam Ben Yedder. The French goal-getter clearly felt at home and scored his second goal before half an hour.
Nantes hung in the ropes and on the hour Ben Yedder was able to complete his hat-trick from the spot. There was no more for Nantes than a savior in the form of a clumsy own goal by Caio Henrique.
Thanks to four consecutive victories, Monaco is systematically back in the upper echelons. It now ranks fifth in Ligue 1 with 17 points.
