Bayern problems were predictable after Lewandowski departure

After a furious start to the season, Bayern have lost a lot of feathers in the Bundesliga in recent weeks. Especially on the offensive, the Munich team found it much more difficult than expected. For Liverpool coach Jürgen Klopp it comes as no surprise that Bayern have had problems recently.

The 4-0 home win against Bayer Leverkusen ended the negative run of four games in a row without a win in the Bundesliga on Friday. The Munich offensive showed itself to be in much better form against the Werkself, especially in attack. The first four shots at the goal of the Rhinelanders fidgeted in the net right away. For Liverpool coach Jürgen Klopp it is not surprising that Bayern are finding it much more difficult to attack than in the previous season after Robert Lewandowski left FC Barcelona.

“You have to get used to this situation first”

In an interview with “Sky”, the successful German coach commented as follows: “If you lose Robert Lewandowski, he just put one in regularly. This must not be forgotten. Once that’s gone, you have to get used to this situation again. He made goals out of chances that weren’t any. In the end you win 4-0 because Lewy made it 1-0 from a moment when there was no scoring opportunity at all. It’s just forgotten.” In addition, it is quite normal for the record champions to go through a short phase of weakness during a season: “You don’t have to pretend that Bayern have played the stars from the sky every matchday for the last ten years.”

However, Klopp is convinced that his ex-protégé Sadio Mané is able to compensate for Lewy’s departure. To do this, the Senegalese only has to call on his qualities: “He always does. Not every week, nobody does that. But in extremely high frequency. Sadio will call because he’s world class,” said the 55-year-old.
