Bayern get away win in Frankfurt

Frankfurt/Main. The basketball players of FC Bayern Munich also won their second game of the season in the Bundesliga. Coach Andrea Trinchieri’s team celebrated an 83:74 (37:26) away win at the Fraport Skyliners.

Cassius Winston scored 23 points for Bayern. Ex-Munich Joshua Obiesie was the most successful for Frankfurt with 15 points.

After a turbulent first quarter with a number of mistakes, Bayern got into the game better. Under the eyes of national coach Gordon Herbert, a 16:2 run gave the favorite a 33:17 lead. The host Hessians hardly achieved anything during this phase. It only got better after coach Geert Hammink’s second break.

Feeling sure of victory, Bayern shifted down a gear too early and, after a 25-point lead, allowed the hosts to come back within five points in the final quarter. Thanks to their individual class, the Munich team managed to win over time.

In the second holiday game, the Würzburg Baskets celebrated an 89:82 (39:38) away win at the Basketball Löwen in Braunschweig. CJ Bryce and Stanley Whittaker each contributed 19 points to Franconia’s first win of the season. The Lower Saxony’s best thrower in their opening game was Braydon Hobbs with 18 points.
