The Los Angeles Angels have signed Shohei Ohtani to a one-year, $30 million contract for the 2023 season, the club announced on Saturday.
He set a record for a player in his third year as an officiant, surpassing the $27 million received by Mookie Betts before the 2020 season, according to the Angels’ official website.
The agreement to avoid arbitration is also the biggest one-year contract ever signed by a Japanese player.
