Arturo Vidal harassed by the fans of Ecuador in the final of the Libertadores

In the middle of Flamengo vs. Paranaense, the public in Guayaquil recalled with songs and whistles the bid between Chile and the Ecuadorians for qualification for Qatar.

at the end of the Liberators in between Flamengo y Atlético Paranaenseplayed in Guayaquil, a separate match was played: the one that starred the public of Ecuador against the Chilean Arturo Vidal. At the wheel they reminded him of the conflict between his team and the Ecuadorian team in the run-up to the Qatar World Cup with whistles and sings.

“He’s not going to the World Cup, he’s not going to the World Cup!”, the Monumental de Guayaquil exploded when the former Inter and Bayern Munich entered the field of play, in the 25th minute of the second half, replacing Thiago Maia. And before each intervention he received the whistles of the public that went to the court in a neutral condition but ended up having fun with the presence of Vidal.

One of the hottest moments was in the 29th minute: as soon as he entered the field, Arturo saw the yellow card from the Argentine referee Patricio Loustau. Finally, beyond the charges of the local fans, it was Vidal who ended up smiling: his team ended up winning 1-0 and became champion of the Libertadores 2022.

Although FIFA confirmed that Ecuador will be in the World Cup and will play the debut match against Qatar on November 20, Chile’s request is still pending a final appeal.

It is worth remembering that it all started when the trans-Andeans raised doubts about the nationality of soccer player Byron Castillo, a defender who played several qualifying matches for Gustavo Alfaro’s team. Months ago, Peru ended up joining La Roja’s initiative, but FIFA never granted its claim.

Chile and Peru insist before the TAS

Days ago, the federations of Peru and Chile were notified of the acknowledgment of receipt by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) for new presentations before the ruling of the FIFA Appeals Committee on the potential improper inclusion of the Ecuadorian player Byron Castillo.

“The appeal filed by the Peruvian Football Federation (FPF) is addressed to the Ecuadorian Football Federation (FEF) and FIFA. The FPF requests that Ecuador be excluded from the 2022 FIFA World Cup and replaced by Peru, the best next team. The appeal filed by the Chilean Football Association (FFCH) is addressed to the FEF, the player Byron David Castillo Segura and to FIFA,” the TAS reported.

The CAS registered the appeals filed by the federations of Peru and Chile after the decision adopted by the FIFA Appeals Committee, on September 15, on Castillo’s eligibility in the 2022 South American Qualifying matches, between September 2021 and March 2021. 2022.

“After analyzing the documentation received from the parties and holding the corresponding hearing, the Appeal Commission ratified the decision of the Disciplinary Commission to close the investigation of the case initiated against the FEF,” FIFA reported on its website at the time.

However, Peru and Chile insist on a case that will be resolved against the clock, before the start of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, with a start date of November 20 with the opening match between the organizing country and Ecuador.

“Both appellants request that the CAS issue its final award no later than November 10, 2022 or earlier,” the statement said.

The investigation began in mid-May due to the promotion of the Chilean Football Federation, which denounced the birth of Castillo in Colombia and put Ecuador’s participation in the World Cup in check.

The objective of the Chilean managers is to qualify for the World Cup after a bad tie that left them out again, as happened in Russia 2018.

Ecuador will integrate the tough zone A together with the organizer, Qatar; the Netherlands, one of the best European teams; and with Senegal, the current African champion and with international figures such as Sadio Mané and Édouard Mendy.
