Arsenal: Saliba’s revelations about his departure from OM

In an interview with his club’s media, William Saliba assures us that he always wanted to return to Arsenal this summer, thus implying that he ultimately did not want to stay at OM at the end of his loan.

Saliba has finally won Arsenal.

It would be with great pleasure if I come back. As a footballer, we all want to play in the Champions League, especially since I’ve never played it yet. Especially in a stadium like that, it’s been a long time since he’s known that. I would love to play here on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

At the end of May, William Saliba still gave a little hope to the supporters of Olympique de Marseille. The central defender on loan from Arsenal confirmed a desire, already displayed in the media, to stay in Marseille for at least one more season. A godsend for OM after the big season for the former Stphanois in the Olympian jersey.

W. Saliba – my goal has always been to come back

We know the rest. Despite Marseille president Pablo Longoria’s desire to keep him, the French international finally left for London. And reading the player’s comments today, we say to ourselves that the mission was impossible for Marseille. My goal has always been to come back to play here, so I knew I had to fight and work hard while I was away from the club if I wanted to come back. he confided to the media of his club.

During his Marseille season, Saliba has always felt the support of the Gunners. When I was ready, it helped motivate me every day to know that Arsenal were watching me, were in touch with me and that soon I will be back here, he says. (…) The club was in contact with me every week, gave me advice, encouraged me and I knew that they supported me, even if I was in France.

Arsenal holder

Today, the 21-year-old is now an essential element in Mikel Arteta’s eleven. The Habs played in all eight matches played by their team in the Premier League this season, scoring two goals against Bournemouth (3-0) and Brentford (3-0). Performances that prompted his management to offer him an extension of his contract which runs until June 2024.
