AP Source: Heat agree to 4-year deal with Herro

MIAMI (AP) — Tyler Herro’s future is assured and the Miami Heat have him tied up for the next five years.

Herro signed a four-year contract extension with the Heat on Sunday. One person with knowledge of the details said the deal could total $130 million — less than the maximum Herro could have gotten, but certainly a significant commitment from Miami.

The contract has a guaranteed $120 million in salary and another $10 million in incentives, said the person, who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because financial details have not been released publicly. ESPN was the first outlet to report that both parties had reached an agreement.

That answers the question of whether Miami would let the Sixth Best Man in the NBA go this season without a contract extension. And now, two weeks before the start of the regular season, that part of the business has been taken care of.

“Tyler is a multifaceted impact player and we are excited to have signed him for the next five years,” said Heat President Pat Riley. “He’s gotten better year after year since we picked him and that’s what’s gotten us to this day. We believe that he will continue to improve.”

The pact means that the core of Miami is insured for years. Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo, Kyle Lowry and now Herro are among the starters who have multiyear deals with the Heat, who won 53 games last year, were the best team in the Eastern Conference in the playoffs and reached Game 7 of the championship. conference before falling to Boston.
