Anderlecht: Trebel wants to play again before the World Cup

Good news from the Anderlecht medical office. Operated on the shoulder, Adrien Trebel (31) is ahead of his rehabilitation program. His goal is to play again with Anderlecht before the start of the World Cup, while his unavailability had initially been fixed until the end of the year.

Run this Monday

This Monday, already, Trebel is expected on the training ground. Not to train with the group, of course, but for a first outdoor running session. In theory, he could only have raced in a few weeks. But the rehabilitation of the French midfielder is going so well that he wants to get ahead of the plan that has been established for him.

His successful recovery, after his fall on the Young Boys synthetic (during which he dislocated his shoulder), is not due to chance. Partly due to his injury history, Trebel is the biggest worker in the locker room, like Marcin Wasilewski more than a decade ago. The medical staff will have to ensure that he does not skip any steps, since it is a delicate injury.

But it’s clear Trebel is sorely missed by current Sporting. Just compare the percentage points obtained with and without it. With him in the base eleven, Anderlecht obtained 12 points out of 15, or 80% of the points. Without him, the Mauves bulletin is much less brilliant: 14 out of 30 or 46% of the points.

Ready for the four key matches at the start of November?

Felice Mazzù has however already tried several combinations of players in his midfield, with Marco Kana, Kristian Arnstad, Yari Verschaeren, Amadou Diawara and obviously Majeed Ashimeru. But no formula has made Trebel forget.

Anderlecht still has thirteen games on the program before the start of the World Cup on November 20. He is unlikely to play in October, but can perhaps aim for the key games at Silkeborg, Antwerp, against Genk and Lierse in the Cup at the start of November.
